What’s the best way for a guy to go from friends to dating a female friend?

yeah i tried dating one of my very best guy friends and it got all messed up and we ended up not talking like a few years cuz of it but now its all good again!!!
I started to take off my shirt when we hang out. Or during school carry her books, go to the stair case, and take off your shirt, throw it out the window, and hug her.
